Understand folder metadata and statistics

Folder details summarize what is inside a folder and who can open it.

Open folder details

  • On Web, open a folder's More menu and choose Folder Details.

  • On iPhone, select a folder and choose Details.

  • The panel has two tabs: Details and Description. Files have Details, Notes, and Tags instead.

What each value means

  • Duration — the combined duration of audio directly inside the folder.

  • Items — how many files and folders sit directly inside.

  • File Types — the formats found directly inside. Web and iPhone may label formats differently.

  • Folder Size — the folder's direct files plus everything in every nested subfolder.

  • Created and Modified — when the folder was made and last changed.

Note — Counts and duration describe what is directly inside the folder. Folder Size is the exception: it includes everything nested below.

Add a description

Open Description and type. Use it for context about the project — what the folder holds, where it is up to, what still needs doing. Files use Notes for the same purpose.

See who has access

  • A shared folder shows its Owner and the people who have been given access.

  • Open Who has access to see each person and their role.

  • A row marked Access via comes from a folder further up, and is changed at that folder.

  • Owners and Admins can change access from here. Editors and Viewers can see it but not change it.

Find play activity

Plays and downloads are not part of folder details. Activity for a public link appears in Shared under Public links, and fuller reporting is in Insights.

What visitors see

A shared-folder page can show a profile name, direct item count, and direct-audio duration. It does not provide Details.

Troubleshooting

If a value looks too low, check whether it counts only direct contents — Folder Size is the only value that includes nested subfolders. If you cannot change who has access, your role does not allow it, or the access is inherited from a folder further up.
