Edit notes, BPM, and musical key

Update notes and audio metadata from an item's details controls.

Add project context with notes

  • Notes are available for files and folders in your library. Use them for feedback, version decisions, and production context.

  • On Web, open Details from the item's menu, edit Notes, then press Enter or click elsewhere to save. Press Escape to discard the change.

  • On iPhone, press and hold the item, then choose Details. For files, you can also choose Notes for a full-screen editor; changes save shortly after you stop typing and when you leave it.

Set BPM and musical key for audio

  • BPM and key are available only for audio files. You can add or change them in Details after upload.

  • Enter BPM as a whole number. On Web, a value up to 999 can be saved; iPhone requires a whole number.

  • Choose a standard key from C through B, then choose major or minor. Traklist stores the key and scale together, so clear both rather than only one.

Let audio analysis get you started

For supported audio files that are 20 minutes or shorter, Traklist may populate BPM and key after processing. Treat the result as a starting point and correct it when needed.

Choose a Web key display

In Settings under Display, turn on Use Camelot Wheel to show Camelot notation such as 8B in track lists. Turn it off to show standard musical notation. This only changes how a key is shown; it never changes the key stored with the file.

Access and sharing

  • You can edit notes, BPM, or key only for files in your own library.

  • Public share pages do not allow editing.

Troubleshooting

If a metadata field is locked, confirm the item is in your own library. If analysis has not finished, wait for processing before entering BPM or key manually.
