Understand file and folder artwork

Artwork gives audio files and folders a visual identity. When there is no custom photo, Traklist uses a default visual.

Replace or remove artwork

  • You can add, replace, or remove custom artwork for audio files and folders you own.

  • Use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image no larger than 30 MB.

  • On Web, choose and square-crop the image. On iPhone, you can choose a photo or take one with the camera, then crop it before saving.

Apply a folder's artwork

  • Apply Folder Artwork requires Pro and works on folders you own.

  • It changes direct children only; it does not cascade through deeper nested folders.

  • On Web, it applies to the folder's direct files and direct subfolders. On iPhone, it applies to direct audio files and direct subfolders.

  • If a folder has no custom photo, applying its artwork makes eligible direct children use the folder's default visual.

Choose artwork for new audio uploads

  • Choose Folder Artwork Assignment in Settings under Display on Web, or in iPhone Settings.

  • Match Folder gives a new audio upload the folder's current artwork. Vary Per File gives it a fresh default visual.

  • This applies when an audio file is added to a non-root folder. It does not change existing files.

NoteMatch Folder is a snapshot: changing the folder artwork later does not update files that were already added.

Where artwork appears

  • Artwork appears throughout your library and player views. It can also appear on public shared pages.

  • Changing artwork does not change the file name, folder name, audio, or other file data.

Important to know

Artwork changes affect how files or folders are presented; they do not change the underlying audio. Folder artwork can be inherited by new audio when Match Folder is the assignment rule.
