Create and nest folders

Use folders to group a project, client, release, or any other collection of files. Create a folder from the place where you want it to live.

Create a folder

  • Open the My Library root view to create a top-level folder, or open an existing folder to create one inside it.

  • On Web, choose Create New, then Create Folder. Enter a name and create it. You can also press Enter after typing the name.

  • On iPhone, choose Create New, then Folder. Traklist creates the new folder in the current location, opens it, and lets you name it.

Create a nested folder

  • Open the folder that should contain the new folder, then create it there. The new folder becomes a child of the folder you have open.

  • Folders can be nested to match the way you organize a project. My Library remains the root view, not a folder.

Name rules

  • A folder name cannot be blank.

  • Names must be unique in the same location. You can reuse a name elsewhere in your library.

  • If Traklist says the name already exists, choose a different name or create the folder in a different location.

Create a folder while choosing a destination

When you are choosing a destination for an upload, move, or copy action, you can create a folder without leaving the destination picker. Create the folder, name it, then select it as the destination.

Troubleshooting

  • Folder creation needs a connection and happens immediately; it is not queued for later.

  • You can create folders only in your own library.

  • If Create Folder is unavailable or creation fails, confirm you are in the intended parent location in your own library, check your connection, then try again.
