Select and manage multiple items

Select files and folders together to act on a group instead of repeating the same action item by item.

Select items

  • On Web, use the checkbox on a row. Hold ⌘ on macOS or Ctrl on other systems while clicking a row to add or remove it from the selection.

  • Use Shift-click after selecting an item to select a consecutive range. There is no ⌘/Ctrl+A shortcut; use Select All in the selection bar instead.

  • On iPhone, tap the checkmark selection control in My Library, Favorites, or a folder, then tap each item you want. Select All, Deselect All, an item count, Delete, More, and an X to exit appear in selection mode.

iPhone list gesture

  • In an iPhone list layout, drag across the selection area at the right side of consecutive rows to add or remove them together.

  • This gesture is not available in grid layout.

Where selection is available

  • You can select a mix of files and folders in My Library, folders, and Favorites.

  • On iPhone, Recently Created and Recently Played do not support multi-select.

Use actions on a selection

Note — Every action checks the entire selection. If one item is not eligible, the action may not appear.

  • Move, Copy, Delete, Export, and adding or removing Favorites work with eligible files and folders.

  • Mark Hold and Remove Hold work with any file but not folders. Compare is an audio-only action.

  • Replace Artwork is a Pro action. Every selected item must be a folder or an audio file.

  • On Web, Add a Tag and Remove All Tags are Pro, files-only actions. Tags are not available on iPhone.

  • On iPhone, Make Available Offline is a Pro action with no equivalent Web bulk action.

Compare selected audio

  • On Web, Free can compare two selected audio files and Pro can compare two to four.

  • On iPhone, Compare requires exactly two selected audio files on every plan.

Move a selected group

  • On Web, drag a selected group onto a folder to move it there. You cannot drop a group onto a file or use the multi-drag gesture to reorder items.

  • You can move or copy items only within your own library.

Shared and offline limits

  • On iPhone, a public shared link may offer Save or Export when downloading is allowed. Public shares do not provide write actions.

  • When iPhone is offline, most multi-item actions are disabled. Compare remains available; Delete is limited to failed uploads.

Troubleshooting

If actions are unavailable, make sure the selected items are all eligible for that action and in your own library. On iPhone, wait for a connection for most multi-item actions.
