Why is my file unsupported or classified incorrectly?

Storage support and audio capabilities are separate: many files can be stored, but only eligible audio receives playback and analysis.

Confirm what the original file is

Traklist supports many file types for storage, but only audio files receive the audio player and audio-only analysis features.

If a file is rejected

  • Check the original file extension in your file manager. Do not rely on a renamed extension or an archive name.

  • Use the complete supported-file reference to confirm the type is listed.

  • Choose the original file again rather than a renamed copy or an archive of the file.

  • If a listed type is still rejected, contact support with the original extension and whether you used Web or the iPhone app.

If a file seems classified incorrectly

  • A stored file can be supported without being playable audio. Non-audio files do not receive the audio player, waveform, or audio analysis.

  • Do not rename the extension to force a different classification. That can make the file harder to identify without changing its contents.

  • If an audio or MIDI file shows the wrong behavior, contact support with the original extension and surface. Re-uploading the same file may not change its classification.
