Understand Short Term, True Peak, and Integrated meters

Loudness meters describe the audio; they do not change playback or the source file.

Read the three loudness measurements

Traklist shows three audio measurements when a file has usable loudness analysis.

Short Term

Short Term shows the average loudness of the most recent three seconds of audio. It is measured in LUFS and changes continuously during playback.

Integrated

Integrated shows the average loudness measured since the meters were last reset. It is measured in LUFS and updates as more of the audio plays.

True Peak

True Peak shows the highest predicted peak level measured during playback. It is measured in dBTP.

Where the meters appear

On Web, the meters appear in the top-right corner of the screen.

When no value appears

If a meter shows -- on iPhone or -inf on Web, Traklist does not have a usable measurement yet. You can still play the file normally.

Match loudness between tracks

Match Loudness adjusts playback so each audio file reaches the selected Integrated LUFS level. This helps every song play back at a more consistent loudness when comparing tracks.

It only affects playback and does not modify the source file.
