Match Loudness changes playback gain, not the original audio file.
Pro — Match Loudness requires Pro, on Web and iPhone.
Make comparisons less misleading
Match Loudness sets playback gain for each track against an Integrated loudness target. It changes playback only; it never alters the original file, waveform, or saved audio analysis.
Turn Match Loudness on
On Web, open Match Loudness from the player. On iPhone, open the expanded player and choose Match Loudness. Choosing any target turns it on; turn it off when you want to hear each file at its original playback level.
Pick a target
−8 LUFS — Aggressive
−10 LUFS — Very Loud
−12 LUFS — Loud
−14 LUFS — Balanced (default)
−16 LUFS — Open
−18 LUFS — Dynamic
Start with −14 LUFS Balanced when you are comparing masters with noticeably different levels; it is the default target and a practical baseline.
Know what Match Loudness can do
Match Loudness needs usable Integrated LUFS. If that measurement is unavailable, Traklist applies no gain. Each file receives its own adjustment, with boost limited by True Peak. This makes comparisons fairer, but it cannot guarantee every song will sound exactly equally loud.
Use it in Compare
With Gapless A/B Compare, Traklist can show the signed gain applied to each comparison file. That makes it easier to see when a level difference is coming from the file itself versus the playback adjustment.
Keep surface preferences in mind
On Web, the setting lasts for the current player session. On iPhone, it is stored locally on that device. It does not sync between Web and iPhone, and it is not available from shared links.
