Show or hide file extensions

Change the file-name display preference in Settings on Web or iPhone.

Choose how file names appear

  • Use File Extensions controls whether Traklist shows the final part of a file name, such as .wav or .pdf. With it off, Drums.v2.wav appears as Drums.v2.

  • This only changes how the name is displayed. It does not rename the file or change the file you download or share.

Change the setting

  • On Web, open Settings, choose Display, and turn Use File Extensions on or off.

  • On iPhone, open Settings, choose Preferences, and turn Use File Extensions on or off.

  • Extensions are shown by default on Web and iPhone.

Know what changes

  • The setting affects file-name labels across Traklist, including your library, Home, Search, and player views.

  • It does not remove separate format details, such as WAV, where Traklist shows them as metadata.

Set the preference on each device

The preference is saved in the current Web session or on the current iPhone. It does not sync with your Traklist account, so set it again on another Web session or device.

Troubleshooting

If file extensions still appear after changing the setting, verify the preference on the current Web session or iPhone, then reopen the file list. The preference is local to that surface and does not sync to another device.
