Keep a share private to people with the password

Password protection is a Pro share-link feature on Web and iPhone. Use it when you want to send a link directly but do not want the shared item to open for anyone who receives the URL.

Set a password

Open the item's Share settings, choose Password Protection, and save a password. The shared link stays the same, but it becomes password-protected instead of publicly open.

Change the password

Choose Change Password, enter a new password, and save it. You do not need to turn Password Protection off first. The share link stays enabled and keeps the same URL. Visitors must use the new password.

What visitors see

A visitor reaches a password screen before Traklist loads the shared file or folder. They need the password you set to continue.

Make the link public again

Turn Password Protection off to restore public access to the current URL.

Troubleshooting

If a visitor cannot open the link, confirm that the password is correct and the share link is enabled. Turn Password Protection off to restore public access without changing the URL.
