Try a different key, slow a track down, shape its tone, or compare at a more consistent loudness. Audio Tools changes what you hear without replacing your original audio file.
iPhone version — These instructions cover Traklist 2.6.2 (build 121), including Match Loudness with edits and saving Mono and loudness settings.
1. Open Audio Tools
On Web
Select a track, then click the three-fader Audio Tools button in the player.
Edit contains Adjust for pitch, tempo, and Reverse, plus Effects for EQ. Output contains Match Loudness and Channels. On a narrower screen, Adjust, Effects, and Output appear together as tabs.
On iPhone
Open a track in the expanded player, then tap Audio Tools in the bottom row. Choose Adjust, Effects, or Output.
On both, closing Audio Tools keeps your settings. Use the power button to hear the original temporarily, then switch it back on to hear your edits.
2. Change pitch, tempo, or direction
Open Adjust.
Pitch: raise or lower the track by up to 12 semitones.
Tempo: change its speed from 50% to 150%, or use a target BPM when the original BPM is available.
Varispeed: link pitch and tempo. Faster playback raises the pitch; slower playback lowers it. Turn it off to adjust them independently when the track supports it. The upper pitch range is smaller while linked.
Reverse: play the track backwards. It may take a moment to prepare.
On Web, Reverse is in Adjust. On iPhone, it sits below the waveform. Reverse pauses in Compare and resumes when you return to one track.
Use Reset Adjust to clear pitch and tempo changes. Turn off Reverse separately.
3. Shape the tone with EQ
Open Effects. The EQ has Low, Mid, and High bands. Drag a point on the graph, or select a band and adjust its controls.
On Web: choose Mid Focus, Bright, Warm, or Bass Heavy as a starting point, or choose Custom. Drag a number left or right, click it to type, or hold Shift while dragging for smaller changes.
On iPhone: use the custom EQ controls; there is no preset picker. Tap a parameter value to open its controls.
Shelf adjusts the low or high end.
Bell adjusts a region around the selected frequency.
Low Cut reduces frequencies below its cutoff.
High Cut reduces frequencies above its cutoff.
Q controls the width of a bell or the emphasis near a cut's cutoff.
Hold the headphones control beside a point to hear that frequency region on its own. Release it to hear the full mix. On Web, Option/Alt-dragging a point also isolates the region while you move it. This temporary listening check is not included in a saved version.
Use Reset on Web or Reset EQ on iPhone to return the EQ to neutral.
4. Set loudness and channels
Open Output and enable Match Loudness. Choose a target from −8 to −18 LUFS. LUFS describes perceived loudness: a more negative number is quieter.
Matching adjusts a track toward your target with a fixed level change. It does not compress the track to force it to reach that target. A boost requires a reliable peak measurement and enough room before clipping, so some tracks stay below the selected target.
Read the four values together. On iPhone, tap the loudness readout to see all four.
Before matching: the measured loudness before the matching gain, including the current edits and channel choice when those are being measured.
Applied gain: how much level is actually being added or removed.
Target: the loudness you selected.
Estimated result: the calculated loudness after the applied gain. It can differ from the target.
After an edit, Measuring… means Traklist is checking the edited audio. If it shows Not measured, matching does not apply a gain for that result.
Under Channels, Stereo keeps the original channels. Mono combines left and right. Use Reset Output to turn off matching and return to Stereo while keeping your creative edits.
5. Keep settings across tracks
Open the settings button in Audio Tools and choose Keep edits across tracks.
On: pitch, tempo, Reverse, and EQ carry into the next track.
Off: those creative edits reset when you switch tracks.
Match Loudness, its target, and Channels stay as chosen when you switch tracks, regardless of Keep. Closing Audio Tools does not reset them. These are not saved settings for each file.
On Web: a full page reload starts a new Audio Tools session. On iPhone: creative edits and Channels reset when the app starts a new session; Match Loudness and its target are remembered.
Reset all tools clears the creative edits, turns off matching, and returns Channels to Stereo.
6. Save a new version
On Web, choose Save New Version. On iPhone, tap Save to open the Save New Version review.
Review the name, changes, channel format, estimated size, and destination. For this walkthrough, choose a location in your own library.
Choose Save. Keep the Web tab or the iPhone app open while the version is created and uploaded.
When it finishes, choose Play file to hear the new copy. On Web, this is in the upload tray. On iPhone, open View save progress if you have closed the progress screen.
The result is a separate 24-bit WAV. It includes your pitch, tempo, Reverse, EQ, selected Match Loudness, and Mono settings. Listening volume, mute, and temporary EQ solo are not included. Your original remains unchanged.
Play file clears the settings already baked into the copy, so they are not applied a second time. Finishing a save by itself does not interrupt what you are listening to.
Useful tips
Use the power button to compare your edits with the original before saving.
Use Mono to check how a stereo mix holds together.
Keep a meaningful version name so the new WAV is easy to distinguish from the original.
Troubleshooting
Save is unavailable
Sign in, select a track, and make a change. Match Loudness or Mono alone can enable saving. Audio Tools requires Pro or an active Audio Tools trial. This walkthrough covers saving files you own into your own library.
A version cannot be created
Save supports mono or stereo audio, an output of up to ten minutes, and a source download of up to 256 MiB. Large or high-resolution files can reach processing limits sooner. Check your available storage and the message in the Web upload tray or iPhone save progress screen before choosing Retry.
The result is quieter than the target
Check Applied gain and Estimated result. Available peak headroom can limit a boost. Some older or unverified measurements allow turn-down only, and unavailable measurements do not allow matching. A target is a goal, not a guarantee that every file can reach it.
I'm using an earlier iPhone build
In Traklist 2.6.1 (build 119), Match Loudness pauses during pitch, tempo, Reverse, or EQ edits. Saved versions include the creative edits but leave out Match Loudness and Mono; those output settings alone do not enable Save. The updated behavior described above is included in 2.6.2 (build 121).
I'm using a browser on iPhone
Use the Traklist iPhone app for Audio Tools on your phone. A browser on iPhone does not provide the same Audio Tools support as Web on a computer.
